Mike Hammer is hired to investigate a toxic chemical dump in the Hudson River by Patrick Dean, the man accused of the crime. Hammer is no fan of tabloids, but his sleuthing uncovers new headlines of his own. While looking to clear his name, the journalist who broke the story and incriminated Patrick is found dead. Now, Hammer starts to suspect that his client might not be as clean as he claimed to be.

Tamara had been working as a model for a racy website before her disappearance, and when Hammer's team discovers a snuff film posted online, he worries that she may have been victimized by something much more serious.
